When one takes Nuclearsheep's creation into consideration, though, Bungie could have easily eschewed the use of grimoire cards by instead making short cutscenes to fill in the gaps in story.Īt any rate, with Destiny 2 on the way, it's quite possible that Bungie has learned from its past mistakes and will be taking a more proactive approach to including better story elements in the sequel.

Of course, one of the major complaints that Destiny fans had about the action-RPG was its lack of a fully comprehensive story in the game, as players mostly had to rely on grimoire cards in order to totally piece the plot together. Not only did they stay faithful to the story of the Queen's Ransom grimoire card, but also the music, animations, and voice acting from the likes of Rachael Massey (Mara Sov), Shaun Giblin (Uldren Sov), and Tanner Johns (Variks) make the scene feel like it could have been included in the actual game.

The Dark Below painfully disappointed, and I just don’t know how to feel about House of Wolves.Considering the fact that Nuclearsheep put together this Destiny cinematic on their own without any official codes or builds of the environments or characters, it's quite impressive how the Redditor managed to pull the cutscene together. Considering we were given Vault of Glass first, I was expecting more of the same with the DLC. It felt lazy, and it was a major glitch-fest. When the Dark Below came out, I couldn’t believe how pathetic and short Crota’s End was. To this day, the absolutely best thing about Destiny is The Vault of Glass. It sounds as if House of Wolves isn’t going to fix any of that, and instead will just follow the path of the Dark Below.Īs cool as a horde mode sounds, I’m still just sorely disappointed that we aren’t getting another Raid. The main story was a mess, and the Dark Below didn’t answer jack. None of this Crucible stuff looks interesting, and all the work Bungie put into trying to make Crucible relevant only takes away what could have went into the horribly cut up story.

I was expecting Halo-level multiplayer with Destiny, and instead, Bungie gave us a Halo-wannabe multiplayer arena. The maps are ridiculous, the online community is almost worse than Call of Duty, and it’s about as unbalanced as it can get.

House of Wolves hits PS4 and PS3 on May 19th, and includes a competitive map called Timekeeper that’s exclusive to PlayStation players until at least Fall 2015. Expansion II introduces a new competitive elimination mode in the Crucible and an all-new arena activity The Prison of Elders. Devoted Prison of Elders fans can also unlock special challenges at levels 32, 34, and 35. Expand your Destiny adventure with a wealth of weapons, armor, and gear to earn in new story missions, three new competitive multiplayer maps, and a new cooperative Strike. Survive it all and your fireteam will gain access to the Queen’s treasure room - and trust me, it’s worth the fuss. Each encounter will be a bit different thanks to procedurally generated gameplay wrinkles, whether it’s different mission types, modifiers, or boss battles.

In Prison of Elders, you’ll partner with fellow Guardians and attempt to survive a series of battles across many of Destiny’s toughest alien races, including Hive, Cabal, and more. In addition to five new story missions set all over the solar system, and a new Strike called The Shadow Thief, House of Wolves brings a muscular new PvE mode that aims to keep high-level co-op players fighting and looting. House of Wolves introduces a new social space set in The Reef, a dilapidated base run by the Queen of the Awoken packed with new missions and new activities.
